I am having trouble strating my Quad 4, only in the morning. It starts very rough, at times it seems to be running on 2 cyl's until it clears out. Last few mornings I have had to pump the throttle and then try it while feathering the pedal. I had to resort to a shot of ether this morn.

I drive 27 miles to work, park it for 8 hrs., and it starts w/o incident and runs like a champ. It's parked for 14 hrs. and it happens all over again. The temprature is cooler now in the AM here in MA., and I can attribute that as an indicator to the problem. I had a feeling it might be the spark plugs, so I changed those but no diff. I have also been running injector cleaner with every tank full.

There's 122K on the motor, and uses about 1/2 pint of oil every 3K. I first thought it may be valve seals, but it doesn't smoke a bit.

Very baffled !!
