Front Suspension Thud / KnockNubiwan 09-24-2003, 01:22 PM 2001 Honda has a disagreeable thud noise when going over small bumps in the road. Recently had it in for a Honda service and they advsed that one of the front lower ball joints needed replacing. How they managed to do a wheel alignment at the same time is beyond me. Anyway, I have just replaced both front lower ball joints. The car is firmer (handles better) on the road now, but the knocking/thudding is still persistent. Anyone got any ideas what it might be. When I took a look underside withmy mechanic (not the honda guys) he was at odds to pin point the possible problem knock area. He did say that there was a little play in the ball joints, so I had him replace them, as well as all my brakes, which were worn down. Sorry, I am not a mechanic, but if anyone feels they know what it might be, then fire away. Nubi... TorinoGT69 09-24-2003, 02:29 PM From the description you gave it sounds like either a ball joint or a strut mount. Have you checked the upper ball joints. I am not sure on the new accords but on the older accords they have a hybrid strut suspension system which has both upper and lower ball joints and the uppers tend to fail.
