BMWs are very troublesome and customer service is poor

I have a 2000 323ci and have had the following problems:

1. Wrong setbelt configuration installed on drivers side
2. Sunroof broke (2x)
3. A/C broke
4. Coolant thermostat replaced
5. Plastic screw that holds jack in place broke (took me 2 hours to unscrew so I could replace a flat)
6. 4 light bulbs out in 6 months (2 left side turn signals, 1 left head light, 1 right head light

All these problems occured in less than 20,000 miles!

check out my postings for more details: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...5&goto=newpost

Good luck if you decide to buy a BMW

I'm hearing a lot of bad things with the new BMW's. Sorry to hear that.

Why does Sea World have a seafood restaurant? I'm halfway through my fishburger and I realize, Oh my God....I could be eating a slow learner

Didn't you post a thread almost exactly like this a few weeks ago?

Hi EdgarFan,

Yes, I did post a while ago. I was intending to respond to a thread titled: "Considering 325 Ci, but heard about really bad reliability, true? (more inside)", but hit the wrong button.

Also have a 2000 323Ci. I also had some of the problems you had, like the plastic screw cap for the jack (I called the free BMW road side assistance to fix my flat), thermostat (recalled fixed it), driver's side door wouldn't open once (recalled fixed it), and one light bulb burnt out. I didn't have to pay a cent to fix all these problems. It has its share of bugs, but it didn't discourage me from buying another BMW. The customer service I've had were terrific. Try to shop around, different service centers can make a huge difference. Cars all have some problems, but great service can make up the difference for me.

Hi Jamito,

I'm glad that you've had a positive experience. BMW of north america has yet to call me back or take action despite weeks, months of emails, phone calls, and letters written to their CEO. I am still waiting for a reponse and have decided to call customer service everyday until they call me back.

I have a '99 320i. The only of the mentioned problems I have encountered are faulty thermostat and control unit for the A/C.
No faulty bulbs, I have Xenon lights.

Customer service here is great.

Martin,

I'm glad that you are getting good customer service in Sweden. It's odd that the customer service in America is so poor. This week alone, I have called customer service 3 times and still have not received a response.
