Question Problems checking the AT fluid level

I bought a '97 VW Jetta GLX VR6 with automatic transmission just a couple weeks ago. It may sound a little dumb, but I couldn't find the dipstick to check the ATF. Maybe someone could help me. Thanks

The newer trans like the 01M does not have a dipstick.. I guess its due to VW using a synthetic trans fluid they didnt want anyone to put dexron or something like that in there by accident. Anyway the check procedure in the manual is pretty specific about temperature and vehicle being level and then you can remove a plug on the bottom and if the fluid drips out its ok, if not.. well, then its low.
