Dude, no problem, just installed blue lights on my dakota, the lights should come with all the protection you need, not to mention fuses and relays. The fuses are fast blow so if you do get an overload that will be the first thing to go, not your cables. these lights will be grounded to your chassis in many areas. Also many people dont know this but the toggle switch or rocker switch (which ever you prefer) is nothing more than a fuse itself. If you are really really concerned (which in my estimation there is no need to be) you can up grade the wire to 10awg or 8awg this will ensure no possible melting problems, however, the down side to that is that the thicker the wire the less fexibility your gonna have with that wire as to bending around corners and snaking through the fire wall. I suggest going with what you have and as long as you hook the lights up the correct way (or have them installed professionally, that way if anything does go wrong the professional is liable and has to pay for the damage-that is if your not comfortable installing them yourself, but I am telling you its a piece of cake) you should have no problems and your truck will be blazing in no time. see ya
