I disagree. A DOHC-ZC Si-hatch, especially the 88-89 ones (lighter than 90-91), is a high-14, low 15-second car, as opposed to a stock '02-'03 Si, which is a high-15, low 16-second car.

The DOHC-ZC has 140HP, in a 2000lb chassis, while the '02+Si has 160HP in a 2800lb chassis.

A b16 in a 88-89 CRX would run a high 14 to low 15, I don't know where you got that a ZC in a hatch will run a high 14 :confused: I think the si would win but it should be a drivers race.

I'm talking about the possible ranges. I also have seen a DOHC ZC run a 14.8 with I/E only.

The '03 Si is NO MATCH for a proper-running ZC-Si hatch. Even without mods.

Think about it:
'89 Civic Si hatch curb weight approx: 2000lbs
'03 Civic Si hatch curb weight approx: 2800lbs

'89 Civic Si hatch (with DOHC ZC) HP: 140
'03 Civic Si hatch HP: 160

'89 Civic Si hatch power-to-weight approx: 14.29lbs-per-HP
'03 Civic Si hatch power-to-weight approx: 17.50lbs-per-HP

It is possible that you are confusing the two ZCs...SOHC and DOHC. The SOHC has 127HP. He did say that his is a DOHC.

If you are doing a straight-line drag race, the CRX would have a higher probability of winning because of the lower weight and almost similar torque (not horsepower).
If you are talking about a race course with turns, well that would depend on the driver. It's a hard call who would win that.
If you are talking about picking up chicks, the new Si would win.

If you are concerned about low 1/4 mile times, get rid of your 17s and get some 14"-15" lightweight rims. Or you might as well get 40 lb. chrome show-no-go rims (e.g. Niche, Giovanni).

single cam zc does not produce 127hp it produces anywhere from 108 to 118 no one really knows any specs on it but it doesent produce 127 the dual cam zc's have 130 hp it will not win, they are beat to hell and frankly i think they are becoming crap motors i havent seen one crx or hatch that was quick with a zc powering it

I guess you're right about the condition of the motors, as for the power, you're right. I guess staring at them all day at my friend's shop got me equating them to the b18a's I see there too. Same with the SOHC ZC's and SOHC-VTEC motors...they're all looking alike to me.

Anyhow, I just don't have much faith in the new Si's. have run my friend's brother, and it's not even close.

i dont really like them either but it would take a zc powered crx, zc's are old old motors and they just arent doing as well as the used to

you'll win if you can drive. and my zc runs fine and has been for a while now. and i raced 2 new si's at the track and beat one by more that half a sec and the other one by almost half a sec. i ran a 9.9 and one ran a 10.5 and the other ran a 10.3 i think. these are 8th mile times of course. and civichbsi what times are you runnin with the sohc?? j/w because my friend had the exact same setup and i used to beat him by like 2-3 cars from a stop and roll. he has a srt-4 now tho :banghead:

i havent ran it at the track yet, my friend with a zc in his crx beat me by only a car when my timing was off and the vtec controller was tuned way out of wack

i fixed the timing and tuned vtec controller the best i could from feel and he wont race me now i know ill spank his ass and he knows it too and i still could get more power out of it if i went to a dyno

that's cool. i'm fixing to put either a gsr(prolly won't) or a semi built b16(wbolt ons and cams) in it either way because i want more power and reliablility.
