Turbo on a Auto accord????

Sup guys,
Im wondering is it safe to put a turbo on my accord even though its an auto trans? My friend who is a mechanic says that he wouldn't recommend it on the transmission. Is there a way to make my auto transmission a bit stronger to handle the boost?

97 accord EX Vtec
AEM CAI, fuel rails, fuel pressure regulator, cam gear, Power pullies
Tanabe cat back, kamikaze headers

Re: Turbo on a Auto accord????

Yeah.....a racing auto transmission. Simple as that. My friend up here just had a racing auto trans put in so that he could bolt up his supercharger to his 2000 accord..... runs good for an auto. Not my preferred choice though, stick shift all the way

you can run a turbo on an auto tranny if you want, it just might not last as long as you'd think. With an auto, at least you dont have to worry about missing a gear!

it'll run just as long as it would with a five speed. The soft torque convertor found on these cars is especially good for boost. You will want to install a tranny cooler though, just to be on the extra safe side.
