2000 Venture remote start7t3vette 09-15-2003, 08:55 PM i'm trying to hook up to the tach wire at pcm. supposedly it is a white wire at pcm (only problem is there are 4 white wires) Does anybody know which pin number it is, because the Haynes manual does not give pin numbers. Thanks, larry weezey2u 09-24-2003, 02:26 PM Use a ohm meter to test the wires this will tell you witch one to use jimbo69ny 09-26-2003, 11:20 AM an ohm meter will do nothing. you need to use a meter that will test for ac voltage. put the negative wire of the meter to ground and the positve to the white wire you want to test. with the car running it should have low voltage around 1 or 2 volts. when you push the gas and rev the engine the voltage should increase. ususaly on most cars it will only go up to around 6 volts. hope this helps jim ponchonutty 09-27-2003, 03:12 PM i'm trying to hook up to the tach wire at pcm. supposedly it is a white wire at pcm (only problem is there are 4 white wires) Does anybody know which pin number it is, because the Haynes manual does not give pin numbers. Thanks, larry Actually, you are wrong. It is the purple/white wire. This can be found at the ignition coil pack or at the PCM. If you want to get it at the PCM it is located in the aircleaner assembly on the passenger side. It is in the blue plug at position 8. If you have a simple testlight, you could probe it and if the car stalls, that's the one. I caution you to do this way though. weezey2u 10-06-2003, 10:08 PM an ohm meter will do nothing. you need to use a meter that will test for ac voltage. put the negative wire of the meter to ground and the positve to the white wire you want to test. with the car running it should have low voltage around 1 or 2 volts. when you push the gas and rev the engine the voltage should increase. ususaly on most cars it will only go up to around 6 volts. hope this helps jim How many ohm meters do you know of that dont test ac current? jimbo69ny 10-07-2003, 10:24 AM How many ohm meters do you know of that dont test ac current? Well to get techinical, a Ohm meter is just an Ohm meter. A Volt/Ohm meter does all voltage, current, and ohms. Or you can get a DMM (Digital Multi Meter) which also does all voltage, current, and ohms. The DMM just in digital rather than analog. weezey2u 10-08-2003, 01:21 AM Well to get techinical, a Ohm meter is just an Ohm meter. A Volt/Ohm meter does all voltage, current, and ohms. Man i was joking you dont have to be so technical about it i guess i should of said use a multi meter i just get use to calling it a ohm meter next time i will be more accurate with my advice thanks for pointing it out i dont want to confuse anyone ponchonutty 10-08-2003, 10:27 AM Man i was joking you dont have to be so technical about it i guess i should of said use a multi meter i just get use to calling it a ohm meter next time i will be more accurate with my advice thanks for pointing it out i dont want to confuse anyone :banghead: mbsaudio 12-02-2003, 08:30 PM sorry to join late.easiest tach--large split loom over engine. only one white wire in it. use it all the time Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
