asbestos

In France, they have just come out with a law that goes into effect on Jan 1, 2002, saying that no car older than five years, & therefore possibly containing asbestos, can be sold on the open market. People who have these cars will just have to keep them or junk them, they can't be sold. I am not looking to sell my car, but it occurs to me that I have no idea whether my '83 rabbit contains asbestos, or where. Does anyone know?

Ok, i heard a long time ago (meaning its probably BS) that bumpers were sealed with a sealent that contained asbestos....and when you took the bumper off the asbestos would break off in lil particles.........oh well, im probably wrong.....

Asbestos in cars???? Never heard that one. with the exception of brake shoes and pads. I guess you could find some in older (70's and earlier) cars. But I think that would be in the insulation. Never heard of the bumper thing either
