I cant believe theres not been a porsche meet before, seeing as theres so many 911s, 944s, 928s etc being built around here. So seeing as three of the four car models ive built so far have somehow turned out to be porsches (im not especially a porsche fan, but it must say something about tamiyas model range- not enough european cars!) i thought i would start one up:

My just finished Rothman's 956, 3rd place finisher Lemans 82. I chose to do number 3 in memory of the late great Al Holbert who was kiled in a plane crash on the way home to see his kid play football. He was Porsche's director of Motorsports in North America at the time, truly one of the great ones.

Here are some Porsches I've refurbished lately. These were built by me in the past, and had fallen into disrepair or disinterest.

The 944 Turbo is a Hasegawa kit. It doesn't photograph well; it was at one time one of my very best models (late 80's). Now it's decidedly below-average :uhoh: :biggrin: . It cleaned up fairly well.

The 996 needed a better set of rims; the model was in fine shape otherwise. Built about 7 years ago. I removed the previous Pegasus rims that weren't doing a thing for it, and applied a set of repainted Ferrari 612 Scaglietti rims. Actually it's two sets of fronts, the rears were too large. They look very much like later model 996 stock rims. Much better :smile:

The 964 is a curbside Fujimi kit depicting a Carrera 4, built about 10-12 years ago. Painted in Gunze acrylic, it's a turquoise color that I think was shown on the boxart. This paint doesn't like to be polished much, it's very susceptible to moisture damage. Pics are flattering!

The '73 Carrera RS was built about 17 years ago. It's an Enthusiast kit w/o an engine. It required a lot of cleanup, and the color is French Blue which in all honesty is too dark to be accurate, but it still looks okay. Built to depict a car I saw often in the '70's.
