Im lookin to buy a 94 caprice.

Im looking for a 94 caprice in good condition. Anyone know what kinda price im looking at? I know I probably wont find it but im looking for a lime green or florescent orange color. Anything candyish would work as long as it runs good.

it depends are where you live and how far you will go to find one. used cop cars are real good buys! they go for between 2500 and 5000 dollars. when you get them at that price, you can do lots of things to make it your own. the engines on those cars will go between 275,xxx and 400,xxx so dont think it will break the day you get it.

I'm not realy sure i want an old cop car due to the stop and go action they do all the time. Seems like that would play a roll on a car. Im 17 atm and this will be the first car i want but i know thats the kind i want. Ive found a caprice for 6k but its got 20'' rims and a new white paint job. Im probably only gonna throw a max of 4k on it and then put stuff on it/in it.

well remember that the caprice had two v-8's in them. i dont know if you are looking for horsepower or not. i have an impala ss and a used cop car. my cop car i bought with 113,xxx and now has 185,xxx and has no problems at all!! that car you found with new paint, what color interior does it have? cop cars came with two choices, tan and blue. other things that give them away, they have certified speedos, and most have the bigger v-8. alot of people try to make the x-cop cars look like impalas, so be careful. the way you can tell the engines (if they have not changes them yet) factory lt1 has two exhaust pipes and the 4.3 (265 baby lt1) has one. any more questions, feel free to ask.

Talking Used cop car.

I just got my dream car (Caprice Police Package) and i can tell you, its awesome!
Ive seen a lot of prices on the internet and they dont compare to what i paid for mine.
If you live in the CA bay Area I can tell you of the dealer who happens to have the largest collection of caprice ex police cars in CA he sells them on autotrader all the time.

If you want a caprice, for either the horsepower, the looks or the nice spotlights <giggles>that the cops leave in them, then go for the Ex Cop cars, Guaranteed satisfaction, @ least for me

Re: Im lookin to buy a 94 caprice.

Ex-Cop cars are really the best way to go when buying a Caprice. A lot of the time, you may want to do modifications on the interior or exterior of a Caprice and the money you save with the police car is a good way to accomplish what you want. I have a used cop car right now and I love it. On top of speed, I also have fun with the people driving around me. Was traffic a problem for you? Well, if so, get a cop car....people will yield (even when they have the right of way), use their turn signals, and much more. But seriously, the Caprice is a great vehicle and was built to last. And it does... Unfortunately, Caprices are getting harder and harder to find and, frankly, people who own them usually won't give them up. Good luck on your quest!

Re: Im lookin to buy a 94 caprice.

There's a 94 near me that I am considering. It's got 90k on it and it's the 4.3 V8 car. Anything trouble spots to look for specifically in these cars when buying? Not looking to mod it or 22's or anything, just an occasional driver to keep personal miles off my business car. I figure it could be a collectible some day too but I'm not holding my breath for that. Just want a nice cruiser. I know these cars can go the distance.

I didn't care for the styling on these when they came out, but it's a really clean if somewhat bland design, it's grown on me. The best thing they did was take the wheel skirts off.

Wow, this post was only 3 years old!

They're OK, I suppose. I can see myself having one (although it would have to be the LT1 5.7 version). I still like my current car:

haha yea i was thinking of getting an all white crown vic with dark tints and remove the hubcaps, then maybe driving wont be such a pain in the a** with all these stupid drivers around here, but i'd rather keep in GM overall

A fairly common problem with the 94 Caprice is the stud and nut used in the junction box on the passenger side fender. The brass nut was replaced with a zinc nut. The zinc nut corrodes faster and has in some cases, caused engine fires. But replacing it is a cheap fix.

The only other real trouble spot is rust. Just like any car with a metal body, if any small rust develops, it must be quickly and ruthlessly eliminated. If not, it has a tendency of re-appearing and getting worse.

As far as style, I'm with silicon212. I like the boxy design better, but the whale body design has grown on me. Either one is a nice car, but I like the boxy better.
