HVAC dash lights not working

I have a 95 Sebring JX. The HVAC dash lights are not working. AC button light works. The blower and temperature knobs do not light up. They come on and off when I tap the side of the dash so I know its not a blown bulb. Anyone have this problem? I pulled most of the dash apart trying to get at the thing with no luck. Any help will be greatly appreciated. This problem is annoying the heck out of me.

Re: HVAC dash lights not working

I just bought a 1999 Sebring LXI for my son. It has the same problem. Have you been able to fix it yet. I have the shop manual ordered for the car so it should guide me to fising it, but just wondered if you had found a solution yet.

Lightbulb

Yes, I have fixed the problem. However there was no "easy" solution. I had to pull the radio out, the center console and side panels, and the air vents to get at the HVAC controller. I then had to remove all the tension wires and connectors that control the air flow, temp, etc. Once I removed the unit I found that the light is emitted from a small lightbulb that plugs into the back. I replaced the bulb and havent had a problem since. Its not really that difficult. Just time consuming and tedious. I really had to be careful to not damage anything in the process and also to not forget how everything went back together. I'm not sure what the part # for the replacement bulb is. I found a spare that wasnt being used under my center console (cup holder area). How convenient! Hope this helps.

If that's what you did to fix the problem then you must have an LX (the coupe) because the JX (convertible) has two light bulbs inside the actual HVAC just behind the cover of the where the knobs are. Just added this so other convertible owners wouldn't get confused. If you're a convertible owner and want some info on this, lemme know because I have taken it apart many times trying new things out.
