93 Dodge Shadow Radio WiringIdiot 09-05-2003, 03:34 PM Could anyone be of assistance in sending me the radio wire diagram for a 93 Dodge Shadow, or happen to know off the top of theur head what wires are which (prolly not but I asked anyway). Thanx Much shadowracer666 09-05-2003, 09:26 PM try goin to best buy and getting a harness adaptor, on mine the power leads are red and white w/ a red stripe, as for ground do what dodge did and ground it directly, for speaker wire, make and route your own, it works better becuase the stock wires suck Idiot 09-05-2003, 09:31 PM When I went to Best Buy to get the mount for the faceplate the guy said I should get a wire harness too. I bought it, but when I took the dashboard off and looked at the wires closer I saw that all that was comming out was just wires, like no place to plug that thing into. Will it be in the car, just maybe futher down into the dashboard that I can't see, or is it possible that I don't have a connection like that in my car? Thanx Polygon 09-06-2003, 12:28 PM You should have two connectors on the back of th stock stereo that you plug the harness into. Also the stereo will have a diagram on it telling which wire do what. Idiot 09-06-2003, 12:40 PM I bought the stereo I want to install off ebay, because when I bought the car it didn't have any stereo. So I can't really refer to the stock stereo. In the hole for the stereo I got the wires for the speakers found out, but I can't tell which ones are the power, memory back-up, ground, and power antenna. The stereo I bought has all the directions for what wires do what, but I just can't differentiate which wires do what that come from the car. And like before, all that is comming out of the hole is just wires, no harness of any type. I tried lookin deeper into the dash for a harness but it just goes to more wires in a plastic wire holder and then it goes into a hole that goes further into the dash. So I'm to assume by my investigation that there isn't a harness in it, or at least one that's easily accessable. What should I do? Thanx Polygon 09-06-2003, 06:08 PM I see what has happened the moron that owned the car before you cut the damn conectors off. Some people don't have a brain. Chrysler head units are easy to replace provided you DON'T cut the harness off like they did. If you have the speakers figured out you can use a volt meter to find the power wires. Idiot 09-07-2003, 09:13 AM This car is turning out to be a lemon. My dad is an electrician and he also works on cars and he told me to use a volt meter to find the power cable (before I even posted here). We grounded the volt meter to the cigarette lighter place, but I hope that wasn't grounded because we didn't get any volt from any of the wires. Where else should I ground it to? And if I can't ground it anywhere accessable, whould it be easier and hopefully not harmful if I left the battery cables hooked up and just tried attaching the each wire seperatly to the power wire comming from the stereo and seeing if that works, and do a trial and error type thing? And then work on the rest of them. I would really hate to find out the wires are cooked inside the car and then me not be able to do any of this without rewiring the car. PS We had to replace the fuse and theres a new one in there, so that shouldnt be the problem. Thanx **This Just In** I did the volt meter thing, but this time I found a grounded piece of metal to ground to. Of the 5 or 6 wires that are there and aren't the speakers, one got a voltage of 4.3 watt/volt (what ever 12.4 would be for the battery). But no other wires got anything. I presume that the only wire I got a voltage from would be my power or memory lead, but I also fear that the wires may be shot. Any new ideas? shadowracer666 09-07-2003, 08:35 PM ok here is the code for all of the wires, pink w/ black stipe will match to yellow, red w/ white stipe matches to red, blue w/ red or orange stripe matches to grey w/ black stripe, brown or black matches to white w/ black stripe, dark blue w/ orange stripe matches to purple w/ black stripe, brown w/ blue stripe to green w/ black stripe, medium purple to grey, green w/ white stripe to white, really dark blue to purple, brown w/ yellow or tan stripe to green, the second color is ur aftermarket wires, the first it ur cars wires, that should help, if not let me know Idiot 09-08-2003, 04:21 PM Thanx so much for the help, but alas it didn't work. I was going through the list and I noticed I didn't have some wires that I might have needed. Such as a green with white stripe from the car. And I also had a few wires that you didnt say, like a solid pink. So here is a list of the wires that are comming out of my car: Brown w/ yellow stripes Brown/black w/ blue stripes Blue w/ white stripes Solid pink Blue w/ orange stripes Red w/ white stripes Speaker wires: Purple and Dark blue w/ orange stripe for one speaker Green and Brown w/ red stripes for the other. I hope this makes sence. Thanx much again PS I think the only wires I need to know are the Red(Ignition), Yellow(Memory), Black(Ground) and Blue(Power Antenna)(All of those colors are from the aftermarket head wires). Because I can figure out the speaker wires, except which one is negative and positive. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
