1:18 Maisto Porsche Carrera GT

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum but have been collecting 1:18 scale cars for about 2 years.

Anyway, does anyone know why Maisto's model has two parts on the rear rotors painted yellow? I know most cars with disc brakes have one single brake caliper. I'm just baffled by that.

Here's a link to a picture:

cheers

Cmon stygian! You should know that is what prevents this great German Supercar from rolling down a hill and going up the ass of a . I'm not sure why some 1:18 cars don't have the e-brake but only the caliper. I suppose Maisto's quality is improving. Note the brake discs on the carrera GT are actually drilled all the way through the dist! Overall that car just looks hot.

yea, i got that car a few months back...its very hot.

i particularly like the fact that the rear wing can actually be lifted up, just like the real one that lifts at a certain speed

i agree, that second little caliper is most deffinately the hand brake/parking brake/ whatever the hell you want to call it

Uh oh....the noob has been owned here.

I guess it makes sense to have a separate e-brake set of pads & caliper since when the car is parked after a spirited drive, the main set of calipers and their pads will be really hot. If the e-brake were to press those hot pads against the rotors, they start warping that much sooner.

Should I paint my rotors on the Carrera given the rotors don't actually rotate along with the wheels?

I have painted the calipers on one piece brake discs and it ends up just fine. Try putting tape over the disc and leaving the caliper exposed. Then spray!
