hi all im new to the forum. i have a 2001 cav 2.4L and i resently upgraded to an MP3 player. when it was in stalled they had to mount my old deck in the trunk. is this normal, and is there a way around it?

yep it's normal. I put an MP3 player in my 2000 Cavalier and had to spend $70 on a harness to run my factory radio to the trunk and to allow my air bags, door chimes, and lights to work. Kind of a pain, but I'm happy with the system. Not sure why Chevy did this though.
