Hi...
This site is loaded with advertising from 5 Star Shine, yet no-one has even tried it? I agree that all products are not good...But I never agree with people who just stick with one type of product and never entertain the idea that something else out there may be as good or better. Now, those that run detailing shops....some of them I can appreciate are happy with what they are using, but that does not make it the best product for the average user who only wants to do a good job on their own vehicle. The person who runs a detailing shop in my area says anything you buy at the counter from stores is usually junk... ( He has his own mixture for what he does) and honestly... it is great....But I will never be convinced it is the best stuff in the world.

I am only trying to keep an open mind. Every industry in the world changes and grows. Many products that were to good to be true years ago, now set the standards or have even been surpased in many industries. Why not Wax products? For every review of every product I have found on here... There are both Good... and bad.... Strange how the same product is magic in one persons hands and garbage in anothers.

I suspect my post will not be overly popular with those set in their ways, yet the funny thing is we are all typing on a box which would have seemed so outrageous only a few short years ago. I guess progress only happens when the Big players tell us its time to move on..... thus windows 3.1 windows 95...... 98..... ect.....

Even The DWG....Waterless Carwash.... I have never tried it, yet to simply say it is junk seems extremely niave. Have the people on here who have their own detailing shops tried it so they can PROVE that it harms the paints?

I guess I just find it disappointing that with so many knowledgable people little though is often given to other peoples ideas and questions.Thank god we are not still trying to learn how to fly... as I recall most people on this once though flat earth who feared the sirens in the seas, believed it is impossible. Think I will make a call to United Air and see......lol

You hit the nail on the head about people being set in their ways. My experience in the vehicle care business (detailing) going on thirty years has seen a lot of ding-a-lings and I've seen a lot on other forums. To start out with the basics of care products, one are classified as consumer quality and the other professional quality-Bunk. You mentioned DWG products and on other forums I've offered a $1000.00 bounty for anyone using these products can show me any damage done by proper usage. These products are ahead of their time and some may say pricey. Lets look at numbers, an 8oz bottle of DWG, Dri Wash n' Guard is $20.00, it takes approx 2ounces for an average car, thats $5.00 to apply a polish/sealer that will last approx six months. How cheap do people expect a good product to be. I've been a DWG distr for three years now and this product has revolutionized the industry. This product will leave all others in the dust and it will become a household name. As for the towels you spoke of in the other thread. I think they are the micro-fiber, go to www.allrags.com, they produce the micro-fiber towels in this country. www.galaxylane.org.

I still cannot believe that with all the knowledgable folks on this board that nobody else has replied to any of my questions? Maybe no-one is willing to answer a question that makes them wonder if there are other avenues for car detailing? I figured before I order the products, I would find other people who have tried and get some input.

Come on everyone. Someone must be able to admit that they have looked at these and other products? Geeeez... I was just at a car show and I must have seen hundreds of people trying a product called Aura or something like that.

I posted on another thread on this site and said that I have tried 5 star shine. In the limited amount of time I have had it on my car it has done what it says. I just wash my car with a wash mitt and plain water. The dirt comes off like a dry erase marker..It has been remarkable.. Here's the thread where I got some info. Does the "polarizing wash solution" etch the paint in some way so the teflon will "stick or bond"? There are only 2 ways that I know of to for bonding teflon, either under high heat or chemical bonding. If you get any of it on your trim, will it stain it? The shine on the cars treated with 5-Star do not impress me very much. It's a clean look but not very reflective, deep, or wet looking. My neighbor purchased the 5-Star system and I was surprised at the small sample sized bottles it came in. For the $50-100 asking price, there are many other excellent products to choose from.

Hey sci fi. I had similar questions and the people at 5 Star first started out by saying to check out the patent to get some background on the product since it is pretty good at explaining the whole process. Here's something chadster wrote as far as reading the patent from the nico site.

The polarizing solution doesn't harm the trim or glass or etch. On rubber trim, you don't put wax on the rubber trim. It will come off, but takes a bit of elbow grease. Those pictures I think are from a car just being washed etc for 3 months, other waxes etc don't look that good after 2 weeks. The hood is angled, so the water sheets off, it beads where it stays put as on the roof.

I was able to do 2 cars with the kit (just use half of the polar wash and use the protectant sparingly as stated.) Based on the price if it even lasts 2 years it is $ well spent. I have detailed cars since high school and wanted to give props to an unknown product that I think works great...

whoops! i just posted an inquiry about this same polish! i didn't see this one. anyway, i just used it this weekend & it produces a really slick, nice shine, but so does the polish i've used for many years--liquid glass. i never seen a product that claims to last 5 years & through 150 washes. i'm very sceptical right now. it's very expensive too & you only get just enough for 1 car. i'll post updates here after a while after i see how durable it really is. i know that it's "patented" but so were those electronic rust control devices that were proved to be bogus. you have to re-apply even the best sealants periodically, & i can't imagine anything lasting that long....
