Jetta Alarm problem

I have a 1996 Jetta. I was rear ended and took my car to a repair shop several times, because the people that work there had no idea how to fix my car. The last time I got it back my car was all kinds of messed up. The only problem i still have is that every time I lock my car, my alarm sets which is normal, but it won't turn off when i unlock my car. I have to keep locking and unlocking my car until it eventually turns off. I took it to the VW dealer and they said nothing was wrong, and of course the alarm worked for them. My question is: is there any way I can disable my alarm myself, or will i have to take it to the dealer, last time I went there I had to pay 90$ just for them to look at my car. So can i disable it myself and if so how?

Thanks Bunches

Re: Jetta Alarm problem

Just a hunch, Check the grounding wire in the rubber boot in the armpit of your drivers door. I had a broken ground wire in there and it caused my alarm and window to go haywire.
If that isn't it, have somone check all the grounding wires for your alarm and doors, jettas are, as I am finding out, known for bad grounding.

Re: Jetta Alarm problem

hey i had the same problem with my alarm i nmy 97 jetta... if i slammed the door while the alarm was going off i could then disable it with the key... which now makes sense with it being a grounding problem
