Painting my friends kit (pic)99civic03 08-27-2003, 07:13 PM My friend just bought a Wings West W-Type kit for his civic, and him and I are going to paint it, but were not sure about a couple of things. We are either going to buy a spray gun and paint it that way, or just use color matched paint in a spray can. The spray gun method will cost about $125 more than just the cans, and he was thinking that the cans would work fine because its just a lip kit, and people paint their stock side skirts all the time and have good results. So my question is, is it worth it to buy the gun and everything and paint it that way, or could we get a good enough paint job using just spray cans? Here is a pic of the kit on a different car by the way if youre not familiar with what Im talking about: B16EJ1 08-27-2003, 07:29 PM I'd say just take it to a professional 99civic03 08-27-2003, 07:33 PM Actually this guy has painted a full kit for another friend before, and that guy had a spray gun, but he has moved since then, so were s.o.l. there. TyTy8383 08-27-2003, 10:50 PM I'm gonna have to say go with a pro too.... It's really not much fun to fix your mistakes when you mess it up... I used to work in a shop where we powder coat things. I'd say get it powder coated. It looks very Clean (^_^)b and also it takes skill when you paint with a gun. If you leave it too long in one spot you'll get bumps (yeah you've seen those probually even from Pro's) and if you don't leave it long enough you can see through. It takes some skill and some style to paint good. Take it it somewhere for the best results. Miataracer 08-27-2003, 11:00 PM FYI powdercoat only works with things that can carry an electric charge (METAL) I haven't seen many metal body kits out there? But it was for a truck. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
