I just got myself a 93 4runnner SR5 4wd with 80,000 miles on it. Now i have found a few problems.
1) Won't shift to overdrive. I heard that 4runners have something that won't let the tranny shift to overdrive untill the engine was warmed up.
2) It idels really rough but only when i am in gear. The entire car shakes at idle but the rpm reads about 750-850 rpm.
3) Gas mileage sucks. i go about 125-130 miles before i am at 1/4 of a tank of gas. Maybe related to overdrive shift problem.

Any help will be appreatcied(sp).

there is a small device under the passenger dash area that i believe controls this temp setting because i have a 1990 and had to pull out the heat er core and i seen this here i turned the knob and now my tranny dosent shift right its not too bad but i think this is what messed me up i noticed it when its cold out more... so i too have to rea just it.
