1995 4.3L blazer 4x4 4hi lights flashes

I pulled into my driveway and the 4hi light started flashing it seems pretty random to me the local RIp of place Er Um I mean dealer wants 80 bucks an hour to tell me what parts they think it bad.. anyone have some helpfull info I can use for this ??


4x4 1995 Blazer LT 59k miles 4.3l with ac and automatic tranny

No check engine light of other errors that I can see.
Never been off-road

More info

Ok I went out and shifted it into 4hi and drive a few feet then 4 low and drive a few feet and now the light won't come back on ??


I am stumped ?

I had a similar problem once. I would check your 4WD lines and make sure they are not dry-rotted first, then your fuses to see if one's blown, and if that doesn't fix it there is a vacuum valve that can be unscrewed in your transfercase. If you can find that an remove it, push the pin in and see if it sticks. If it sticks that could cause the problem.

I had the same problem, only mine locked into 4wd. The problem was a wire that was connected to the box that controls the electronic shifter, the whole unit was bad and I ended up getting a used one and spending about $250 to have it put in. The whole circuitry was shot inside the old one. A new box costs about $600 if I remember correctly.
