HI there,

Is there a kit available to allow a DIY recharge to the Air Conditioner in a 92 Pontiac Sunbird.

Personally I have never understood the rational behind A/C in a Convertible, but it's there and it's blowing warm air.

TIA for any help.

Cheers

I've had a customer bring in a used kit that they had purchased in the States. It comes complete with hose, r134 gas and even a deodorizer. I don't know where they got it from. I'm sure someone should be able to help you locate one. Good Luck.

R-12 gas is hard to find and costs alot more than you want to spend. Right now a 50 pound can of R-12 is over 500 dollars. Also you have to be licensed to buy R-12. So the answer would be to buy a retro fit kit to change your car from R-12 to R-134a. You will need to go to a shop and have your R-12 sucked out and system put under a vaccum. Then you can install your retro kit and do the rest yourself.
