Start Problem VR6 Auto 93

Hi, I have the above VR6 with 53,000 miles - recently I started having problems on starting - it would stall 2/3 times before me giving the accelerator a bit more, it would then would run smoothly - this morning it just would not start at all ? does anyone have any ideas / heard of this problem before ? could it be the starter motor or something else - the battery is fine and so is the fuse for the pump - i am definitely non technical and I live in france where I will have to try and explain to french mechanics what the problem is in my bad french - please can anyone help - it would greatly appreciated

thanks Giles

sounds like it's not getting fuel, most likely culprit is the fuel pump itself.

thanks yours - does thsi mean that if the pump is broken there would be no action/noise/movement whatsoever ?? I also heard that it might be the solenoid on the fuel pump - does this mean anything to you ??

thanks again
