Angry 97 540i catalytic converters bad

I have a 97 540i went in with a clicking noise. Aparently both cats are dead? No nine lives there.. lol. Anyway, I would like a lil advice on what to do.. argue with the dealership that sold it or get some one to put some after market cats on it. I did buy it as a factory authorized something or other.. fancy way of saying USED ! Was purchased in 2000
if you like, I can be emailed as well.. Lis@seductive.com

Thanks, Lis

I To Just Bought A 1997 528i And Had A Check Engine Light On It. Took It To Bmw And They Said The Cats Are Bad And Wanted $1000.00 To Replace The Complet Exhaust System, They Do Not Sale Just Cats. I Took It To A Local Muffler Man And He Put On Stainless Cats For About $450.00. If The Bmw Has Less Then 85000 Mile On It They Will Fix It Do To A Recall.
