Selling a car which has a lien

I have to sell my Honda Ciicv by end of month as I am moving overseas for a while. The problem is the title is with the state of PA. I have asked the finance company to which I am repaying the loan to have the title released to them, but this will take up to 6 weeks.

My questions are:

Is there any way to expedite the title-sending/receiving process?

Why does the state have the title in first place and not the Finance co?

My parents live in Chicago and I was wondering if I could drive car to Illinois with PA plates and PA title and then have my folks sell it and then pay it off for me and use power of attorney to sign title over to seller?? How easy is it to sell car in other states and are there weird tax issues.

Thanks to all

You can have your folks sell the car. You should just sign the title before you leave and your folks should be able to take it from there. Your bank will need to sign off it too and that would be easy if there is a branch office of your bank in Chicago.

thanks Yogs..what about

the truth is that its not even a bank , its American Honda financial services. If my folks sell it and have power of attorney , they can repay the loan and get the title sent to them without me needing to do anything? does that sound right?? My problem is the title will not even get to HFS from state of PA until after i am gone...what a mess this thing is

thanks
