my brother has a 93' 180sx and he just got his hi-flow cat changed the other day and now the exhaust warning light is on all the time.

does anyone know why?

Most probably because you don't have a cat anymore..
I'm pretty sure the sensor is actually on the Cat itself.. I maybe wrong as it could be different, but the sensor no longer being attached is the usual cause..
