I have a 97 accord and when I turn the ac on there is a slight shudder and then the idle stays rough.

Any ideas? can I just adjust the idle, and if so how would I go about doing this.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but thats just the AC pump engaging on to the drive train. My 5th gen does that too, I'm 95% sure its normal.

My 96 is kind of like that too...I'm used to it though, it's old. I think it's normal wear and tear. The A/C is an accessory off the engine, so that's the shudder you hear most likely.

explain the shutter..is the front bumper shaking?

usually the engine will try and raise the rpm when a load is put..perhaps ur idle is just too low...

Perhaps, your idle speed should be 650-750 RPMs when the engine is warm.
