ok i will be working for mb in the service dept after i graduate school which will be in a year to a year and a half. can i buy some books to start learning about the mechanical stuff? i need to know this so i can get a head start, help me out thanks.

just go through each car on their website <www.mbusa.com> and read the stats. If you know anyone who owns any MBs then you could ask for their manual... but i that's up to you. Finally, you could maybe go to a dealership and ask for some information there.

Maybe as if you can hang aroudn the delaership sometiems before you start work, asking some of the service guys questions ro soemthg. A decent car magazine is a really good source for new car products and technologies, start subsrcibing to either Motor Trend or Car and Driver. TV if there's decent programming can also help.


Depending ont he what type of job it is, some libraries may have up-to date enough books that the technologiy these cars use coudl be covered, and oh ya, the net will have a lto on it.

if i were you i would get to know the model designation numbers. that will be necessary if you work in the service department. in case you dont know already here's a list of the model designation numbers for the newer cars:

new c-class - 203
old c-class - 202
new e-class - 211
old e-class - 210
new s-class - 220
old s-class - 140
new clk - 209
old clk - 208
new sl - 230
old sl - 129
slk - 170
ml - 163
CL - 215
Maybach - 240

that's all i can think of at the moment. if you want to know more just ask or you can probably go down to the dealership and ask a model designation card.
