Exclamation 1996 Grand Cherokee - Coolant Sensor Bad

Ok, I have been getting a Coolant Sensor Bad message for some time. Today I replaced the coolant temperature sensor located next to the upper radiator hose on the engine. I still get the message but not as much and mostly it comes on for 5 minutes then goes off until the next time I start the car. Does anyone know if this message pertains to the coolant level sensor inside of the resivior and not the temperature sensor?

Does this message have to be cleared or does it fix itself once the problem goes away?

How can I test the coolant level sensor?? Its never mentioned in my Haynes Repair Manual.

Thanks!

Lightbulb

Before you do anything, Disconnect the battery, it will reset the computer, if it still goes on then go to your next step...

Re: 1996 Grand Cherokee - Coolant Sensor Bad

I am also experiencing the same issue with my 96 Jeep G Cherokee. It displays coolant sensor bad, and also Coolant level low. I checked if my coolant is leaking, but it doesnt look like it. What could be the problem?

Its not the one on the Tsat housing that causes that. Its the sensor on the reservoir thats faulty or the wiring the wiring for it. Mines been doin it for years, i just ignore it. Just monitor your coolant levels the old fashion way. It only looks bad to strangers who drive with you. They are always quick to tell u "Hey man your sensor's bad". Also looks bad to someone you are trying to sell the JEEP to. Its nun to worry bout!

I have the same problem aswell, I have changed the coolant sensor with no luck and reseivor sensor with no luck, I have read on this or other forums that it is quit possible that the connection on the back of the vic may have some corrosion, I have not tried this as I have gotten used to it but I will try, other wise the dealer seams to think it is the vic itself.
