tokico hp shocks and springs kitxxjustinellisxx 08-06-2003, 05:30 PM im looking to upgrade to new shocks and springs for my 96 gsr and was wondering what everyone thinks about the tokico non-adjustables along with tokico's springs. this is my daily driver and i am not really interested in adjustables unless absolutely needed. any suggestions out there? thanks SilverY2KCivic 08-06-2003, 08:23 PM Sounds like it should be a good decent combo there for you. 99civic03 08-06-2003, 09:12 PM I would advise against it. I had that kit on my 99 Si before it was wrecked, and I was very happy with it. However, I only had them on for a month. A few weeks after my car was totalled, I learned that the HP Shocks are more of an OEM replacement, and wont last longer than a couple years with lowered springs. I suggest getting H&R Sport Springs and KYB AGX Shocks. Installed, it should run you about $600 if you search around a bit for good deals. Many people have this set up, and are very pleased with it. If youre interested in it, let me know and Ill give you some more information and pics of Integras with the set up. BullShifter 08-07-2003, 01:32 AM Check out the H&R Cup Kit Cup Kit (http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/suspension.jsp?autoMake=Acura&autoModel=Integra+GS-R&autoYear=1996&make=H%26R&model=Cup+Suspension+Kit) xxjustinellisxx 08-07-2003, 11:40 AM im really interested to see some pics with that set up if you have them? 99civic03 08-07-2003, 03:01 PM Here is a teg on 17s with H&R Sport Springs and KYB AGX shocks. 99civic03 08-07-2003, 03:03 PM And another. 99civic03 08-07-2003, 03:06 PM Another. xxjustinellisxx 08-07-2003, 04:17 PM those look really good. how is the ride quality though? also what setting are the shocks on those cars if you have any idea. thanks again 99civic03 08-07-2003, 04:37 PM Ive heard the ride quality is very close to stock. I know a guy who went almost 3 years on his stock shocks with those springs, and the ride quality was still pretty close to stock. Those springs have a pretty low spring rate, so the ride shouldnt be too bouncy. All the people Ive known with that set up have the AGX's set to the lowest setting, 1. The drop is 1.75 in front and 1.5 in back, and the AGX's have a lifetime guarantee up to a 1.5 inch drop, so those shocks should last as long as you own your vehicle. xxjustinellisxx 08-07-2003, 05:23 PM sounds like i need to start looking for those. any good websites you can think of? i dont want to break the bank but i know you ususally get what you pay for when it comes to suspension. thanks 99civic03 08-07-2003, 05:58 PM Here are the springs. http://www.cartunerz.com/handr/acurahonda.htm There are also a couple sets on Ebay for around the same price. Check out www.groupbuycenter.com for the shocks and I think someone is selling the springs too, but just check it out. xxjustinellisxx 08-07-2003, 06:17 PM ok i think ebay is going to have the best prices. one last thing how hard of an install would this be i just got done talking to one of the local shops and they wanted 350-400. **** that!! xxjustinellisxx 08-07-2003, 06:33 PM i forgot to ask about camber kits. am i going to need one for about a 1.75 drop and if so can i install that my self? xxjustinellisxx 08-07-2003, 06:52 PM man im just full of questions today. i just called tokico and they said that the hp kit will lower about 1.75 with their springs that come in the kit and that it has a waranty. do you think that is still a no go? you said that you liked your setup untill you totaled your car. 99civic03 08-07-2003, 08:08 PM I just dont know how long the shocks will last...how long is the warrantee? About the camber kit, I would say no, you dont need one, but check these threads out as well for more info. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?threadid=80694&highlight=camber+kit http://www.honda-acura.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12695 About that installation cost, that is WAYYYYY overpriced. A shop around here charged me $110 for the install of shocks and springs, so Id keep looking, youre bound to find someone that will do it for around 100. xxjustinellisxx 08-08-2003, 01:12 AM good question about the warranty. im not sure that he said. with my luck it will prolly be arould six months, right before the shocks bottom out. im about 99% sure i want to go with the kyb's i just have got to find a good price on them. what do you think that they will run? i have found those h&r springs for 150.00 and i figured that was about as good as they would get.
