Changing Alternator 93 Civic EXSpence.B 08-05-2003, 08:09 PM I have an bad alternator on a 1993 4 door Civic EX (1.6 Engine). Can anyone tell me if the alternator is easily removed and replaced in the driveway. Or, is this project something that is best done in a shop. Any help appreciated. Spence.B 94civic 08-05-2003, 08:20 PM its easy. first locate the alternator. then loosen the 12mm nut on the top and the 14mm on the bottom. slide the belt off(you will have to take off the a/c and p/s belts to do this). once you get the belt off disconnect the wires that are going to the alternator and remove the bolts on the top and bottom(the ones that have the 12mm and 14mm nut).once you get that all out then it should come right out. btw you should disconnect th power steering hose so yoou can have a little more room to work with.
