1988 chevy van no fuel

im workin on a friends 88 chevy van-its gettin no fuel-i went under the tank and with the key on I hear no pump runnin-I found a connector that i think is the fuel pump-sender assembly-I connected a test light and I have a lil power to the center wire but it glows very dim?---im not sure where the fuel pump relay is or if its a bad pump---he says it drove home fine but the next mornin it wouldn't start-i poured a lil gas down the intake and it ran for a second so im thinkin it was a no fuel problem? any help appreicated. I've checked the fuses but have no idea where to go from here

Thanks
Mark

If I remember correctly, those trucks had a relay and fuse mounted under the hood on the right side....
Check the gray wire to the sender...that is the F/P feed wire
