I have a '95 Dodge Dakota it has a V8 5.2L in it. I want to get a muffler or straight pipes. I want to get a good grumble sound. My question is what should I get to get a good grumble sound but is not to expensive?

Headers, dual cats, x-pipe with twister or spintech mufflers will give you an awsome growl but you'll pay for hte extra power you get out of it too. But I think it would be worth it.

I would go with an "Original Flow" Flowmaster from Summit Racing
3"inlet and dual 2.5" outlets. I am running this on my R/T and it has plenty of resonance in and out of the cab.My Flomaster cost me $69.00+$15.00 to weld it up.I want to warn you though,it is loud.
I cut and removed my original exhaust about 3.5" behind the #3 cat and somehow the cat got punched out (i wonder how that happened?) ,this made a huge difference in tone and volume.Then I got the flowmaster welded right up to the cat.Try it this way,you can always add pipe to the outlets to mellow the volume.ANY MORE FLOW THAN THIS AND YOU WILL START TO LOOSE LOW END TORQUE,WITHOUT SOME SERIOUS HEAD,INTAKE,& THROTTLE BODY WORK.Do the muffler & cat,its cheap and sounds insane,you will be impressed!!!!

hey, there is no need to buy all that "X" pipe and expensive mufflers and all that bull crap. I have a 93 w/the same 5.2L v8. All you need to do is cut off the catalytic converter and weld in a section of pipe there, then cut out stock muffler and put in a flowmaster in its place. There is no need to change pipes because they are all stainless anyway. So you keep all original pipes and do not need duals. What is cheaper than that. All my friends who run chevy 350's got pissed when i changed my exhaust because it sounded so much better than any of theres.

I own a 1998 Dakota with the 5.2L V8. All I did was get rid of the stock muffler, weld in a "Y" pipe and run straight pipes out the back. Runs good and sounds great, costs about $50.

I have a 97 Dodge Dakota with almost 200k miles on it. I tried the punched out cat and all that fancy stuff. But here is what you get..I don't know if you have emission laws where you live but In missouri I have to get my truck inspected for the level of pollution it is putting out. remove the cat and you get a false reading from the O2 sensor which will cause the engine to either run to rich or to lean, either way it is harming your performance. On to what I have done. I am a man that doesn't like tail pipes at all. I think a veh looks much cleaner without tail pipes. I have stock exhaust all the way back to my Cat then I have a small section of pipe and a 2.5" inlet/outlet, Center in/Center out Flowmaster with a turn down that dumps the exhaust right infront of the rear end and it is turned down so you get the exhaust to resonate off the ground. It sounds super tough plus evan at 200k miles, I still have the best hole shot at the stop light and it is nothing to get the truck to peg the speedo and it reads 120. And if you question power (pulling Power) I still do not hesitate to pull a Skid Loader or a full size truck on a 16' float, and use cruise control while pulling.
