whats faster LS/v-tech or h22somedude 07-29-2003, 06:18 PM i got a 92 civic hb and im lookin for a fast engine what kind of performance would i see from an LS/V-tech, LS turbo, and h22? Sid77 07-29-2003, 06:24 PM I think I would go with the LS/Vtec because the h22 weighs to much for a hatch. The H22 might have a few more horses but its not worth the weight if you ask me:bigthumb: PWMAN 07-29-2003, 09:05 PM VTEC :newbie: Thepeug 07-29-2003, 11:58 PM LS/VTEC is awesome, but it's a complicated setup. Are you planning on doing it yourself? diegoaccord 07-30-2003, 09:35 AM Flaming someone for writing VTEC wrong is so old. Grow up. crxlvr 07-30-2003, 10:35 AM id go LS/Vtec if i were you, the h22 is too big and you wont handle as well. 94tegRS 07-30-2003, 06:37 PM swap those letters "LS" for "CR" projectsilvia97 07-30-2003, 07:53 PM i agree, go with the CRVtec. you will have so much more torque. the H22 weighs too much for the hatch, and you will have terrible handling. 4g4d_getone 07-31-2003, 04:17 PM id go with the ls/vtec but it will cost a pretty penny. u got to find a vtec head thats in good condition and good price, also u got to find a good ls block so its up to u. and find someone who really knows what there doing vtec28412 07-31-2003, 06:58 PM I heard ls/vtec has good low end and good high end, but they overheat easily cause the ls blocks aren`t meant for vtec, and the ls block has a bad rod to stroke ratio. 94tegRS 08-01-2003, 03:02 PM the LS and CRV block r/s ratio is 1.54 and the GSR ITR is only a bit better @ 1.58, 1.75 is best, which is where the b16 sits @ 1.74. the blocks that come with VTEC heads have oil squirters which is why they handle the revs better. but the LSVTEC and CRVTEC have so much torque that you dont really need to rev past 7k and thats about where the B18B's redline is I think so the blocks shoulds be able to handle that. SLEEPERACCORD 08-02-2003, 09:39 PM MY CO-WORKER HAVE A TURBO LS/VTEC IN HIS CRX AND ALL I CAN SAY IS MONEY WELL SPENT.IS CAR IS NOT TUNED YET AND VTEC KICKS IN RIGHT AT FULL BOOST SO HE GETS ONE HUGE JOLT OF POWER AND THE RESULT IS SPINNING TIRES ALL TROUGH THE GEARS. THE TWO THINGS I DONT LIKE IS THE GEAR RATIO IS TOO SHORT I THINK HE HAS THE YS1 TRANNY IF AM CORRECT.5TH GEAR PULLS SO F#$%^&* HARD YOU THINK HE STILL IN SECOND OR THIRD GEAR.AND LEAKING HEAD GASKET. OTHER THAN THAT A BOOSTED LS/VTEC WILL KILL A N/A H22. NOW THE H22 IS A SERIOUS KILLA AS WELL WHEN BOOSTED!!:bigthumb: Pymp10 08-02-2003, 09:59 PM yeah, if you go VTEC make sure someone who knows what they are doing builds it. if it's not built right it will tear up quick. and you don't have to boost it too much to really feel the power. The H22 is a great motor to boost, but in a hatch it's just over kill. too much weight for the hp. My 2 cents 94tegRS 08-02-2003, 10:29 PM isnt the H22 only about 100 pounds heavier. S13GTR 08-03-2003, 03:55 AM this may sound hard to believe but this is my 92 civic hatch (stripped rear) and the motors I ran through. jdm b16a bone stock=13.4@102mph jdm b18c w/head work=12.9@105mph jdm h22a bone stock=12.3@110mph all open header with good traction You do the math. 94tegRS 08-03-2003, 11:44 AM you must be a damn good driver then, cuz a 5th gen hatch gsr with I/H/E only was hittin low 14's and this is near sea level and cold. so I think Im gonna need some proof. SLEEPERACCORD 08-03-2003, 01:08 PM stop telling lies:twak: :bs: PWMAN 08-03-2003, 02:38 PM Originally posted by 94tegRS you must be a damn good driver then, cuz a 5th gen hatch gsr with I/H/E only was hittin low 14's and this is near sea level and cold. so I think Im gonna need some proof. I would have believed mid 13's cuz he said his car is stripped, but certainly not 12's! I wonder if he is using nitrous? Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
