Mika Hakkinen Lancer WRC Complete (Hi-Res)RallyRaider 07-24-2003, 10:57 PM Here it is, only three months late but who is counting. The red in these pictures is a bit washed out because they were taken on a very damp overcast day. Probably just like it would look on a snowy day in Lapland  http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/474991Dcp_1482a.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/156247Dcp_1492a.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/705409Dcp_1497a.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/831779Dcp_1508a.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/223656Dcp_1375a.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/389286Dcp_1377a.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/840082Dcp_1383a.jpg NME NVADR 07-24-2003, 11:02 PM Simply astonishing, that's the best lancer I've seen since, well ever!:iceslolan tazdev 07-24-2003, 11:28 PM simply stunning work there Phil. Nice one, Phil. Gainsbourg 07-25-2003, 06:40 AM A fine example of the true beauty of modelling art. Perfect. exhaust smoke 07-25-2003, 06:40 AM Top notch job Phil:bigthumb: This one is surely to inspire an influx of people to build this version. potsie 07-25-2003, 08:29 AM Hey Phil, the Lancer is simply amazing! Your work is a true inspiration to keep going that little further in the quest for realism. Now I will have to go out this weekend and buy a whole new set of supplies to start modelling again. Congratulations! P.S. I am a little worried about the cost of our little hobby over here in England compared to back home in Aus. Don't know that I will be able to afford to feed my (our) obsession quite as much. freakray 07-25-2003, 08:37 AM Phil, nice to see you're putting your vacation time to good use  Been waiting a while for this one, but it was well worth the wait!! Excellent work on the Lancer, you keep raising the bar for us rally builders, thank you!! :bigthumb: Veyron 07-25-2003, 08:49 AM A model to be proud of! :bigthumb: :bigthumb: RallyRaider 07-25-2003, 09:02 AM Wow, thanks for the kind words Gentlemen. After the epic progress thread I'm glad everybody likes the end result. Will have to update my web site now :bloated: Just noticed one of the windscreen wiperarms is sitting a bit proud of the surface - better go give it a tweak :icon16: RallyRaider 07-25-2003, 09:11 AM Originally posted by exhaust smoke Top notch job Phil:bigthumb: This one is surely to inspire an influx of people to build this version. If anybody does want to build Mika's car please be aware of the shortcomings of the S27 sheet. Main ones are the silver on silver disappearing 'Motor Sports' decal and that most of the decals are slightly too small. The latter is a problem on the 'Mitsubishi' decals on the top of the front and rear windscreens. There are a number of other, smaller errors too, most of which I was able to correct, a few of which I had to live with. nervestrikes 07-25-2003, 09:15 AM [QUOTE]Originally posted by RallyRaider [B] :iagree: :1: Guido 07-25-2003, 10:07 AM I have to agree with all the others here. Espcecialy since you gave us the opportunity to follow the progress, so we all know how much effort went into putting every single detail right. Simply modeling at it's best. Top! :bigthumb: Forhod 07-25-2003, 10:33 AM Stunning work!! :bigthumb: Marco_Wrc 07-25-2003, 11:06 AM Absolutely stunning. Following the progress was great. Impressive. Most impressive. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/491592vader.jpg mel79 07-25-2003, 03:10 PM I don't know if there's anything to improve on this beauty, it looks perfect in my eyes :bigthumb: Of course I admired it through the build up thread but the finished model still astonishes me  I don't have any references on hand right now, but were the tyres really so wide or should this baby have narrow spiked snow tyres? I know they would be difficult for us mere mortals to fabricate, but I'm sure with your skills you'd have a perfect set ready after a few hours work:biggrin: -Mikko EDIT: I reread the progress thread and noticed that Mika's Lancer really had gravel wheels on some stages. I should have known there can't be anything wrong if you have decided to use gravel tires with the car:biggrin: -Mikko XspudX 07-25-2003, 03:19 PM :eek2: :eek2: Very well done! You make me want to build a Lancer WRC! Deejay360 07-25-2003, 03:59 PM Excellent Job Really detailed.:eek2: :eek2: Valentino 07-25-2003, 05:51 PM Definitly hall of fame material :bigthumb: :bigthumb: :bigthumb: :bigthumb: :bigthumb: RallyRaider 07-25-2003, 06:13 PM Thanks again everybody. Yes Mikko I was very happy to find some pictures of Mika's car wearing 15" gravel Enkeis. He probably didn't use them on the Special Stages just on promotional appearances or thawed out road section between competitive sections. I 'faked' some snow wheels for my 2001 Swedish Rally 206, although I drew the line at fitting the two hundred or so ice studs per tyre! freakmech 07-25-2003, 06:47 PM Absolutely stunning... how you can build like this and raise a child is a question id like answers to. I would be honored to see more of your work. Weve butt heads before and i wish i could have expressed my intentions better or varified my research more to you but I have no grudge and this is immaculate work. I have a Hasegawa Delta Revolutione and have found a few trans-kits and decals to build a Rally with the kit. Any direction you could offer or perhaps some links to pictures of such a Rally car. Any help would be great. Thank you for such a rare treat. I do have two questions... which kit is this Lancer? How did you get such Hi-Rez pictures uploaded? Thank you for your time. RallyRaider 07-26-2003, 02:19 AM Thanks Freakmech, having two small children is part of the reason why it took so long to finish this model! There are pictures of my other rally models on my homepage (http://rallycars.topcities.com/). Exactly what Delta kit do you have? If you want to build a rally version Hasegawa make several variants. Probably best to start off with one of those rather than convert a road car. Start a thread on it and us rally guys on the forum will undoubtedly try and help you out. This is Tamiya's Lancer Evo VII WRC. It comes in the box as the 2002 Monte Carlo Rally works car. The progress thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t93638.html) explains the changes. Regards the hi-rez pics, AF has a 100k limit so I just increased the compression until the pictures were under it. As a result the red in particular is a bit grainy. When I get around to uploading pictures on my website they'll be over twice the file size and much highter quality, so the colours will be much smoother  Here is a link to a higher quality version of the first picture on this thread. Compare how much smoother and cleaner the red looks. 278Kb version of Lancer WRC picture (http://rallycars.topcities.com/gallery/mitsubishi-arctic03/mitsubishi-arctic03-hakkinen-13.jpg) Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
