cadillac 500 trans compatibility

I can get a cadillac 500 from a 75 el dorado for free. The motor runs good and everything, only 65k miles on it. The el dorado is front wheel drive. Will this motor bolt up to a th700r4 so I can put it into my caprice. It looks like is will, but i dont want to rip it out of the caddy if i dont have a tranny for it. If not what transmisons will it bolt to? Cadillac only?

Thanks,

Steve

I am pretty sure the cadillac has the B-O-P bolt pattern and will not bolt to the 700r4 you will need to find a B-O-P tranny, TH-350s are pretty common with this bolt pattern.

I agree with the above post, this is however a common swap and adapter plates are easy to come by. The stock 700r4 are a little on the weak side though, might want to look into a th400.
