Legacy 91

I bought a Subaru Legacy 91, sedan 4 doors, around a year ago. It had a little sound when I turned left. Now this sound is getting louder and it also sounds when I turn right. The sound is there only when I turn to the sides, it is kind of hard to describe the sound but it is like the sound of a sub-machine-gun.
I don't know too much about cars so I would like some advice.
Thanks
