Help wont start

I went and ripped off the upper intake manifold to replace the gasket and unhooked a lot of wiring. put everyhting back together and hooked ALL of the wiring up but the damn thing wont start. IT will turn over and i can smell fuel but it seems like there isnt any spark. I numbered all the plugs and such and didnt even take the distributor out but when i go to start it it wont start. I took the coil and set that on the cement. Could thta have possibly grounded out the system and made it useless?any help appreciated.
