Just wondering where everyone's oil pressure gauge sits.

First started - 4kg/cm2
Engine warmed up and cruising - 1 to 2.5kg/cm2
Engine warmed up and idling - 0.2-0.8kg/cm2!!!

If I rev the motor when warm and it's just been idling, it goes up to over 1kg/cm2. Seems very low to me, but the oil light never comes on (except just before the car is started). The motor always seems to run fine.

Any ideas?

Youre oil pressure at normal operating temperature at idle should be no less than 0.80kg/cm.
At 3000RPM it should be 4.5kg/cm.

Have you changed oil/filter recently ???.....shitty old oil and filter wont help if its clogged up with shit.

Use a really good brand of oil like Castrol/Mobil 1(no cheap stuff) and use a SAE 10W/40 to 20W/50.

Hope this helps you out

Changing oil is a good idea. I've heard that when oil starts getting old it begins to break down and that would cause a pressure drop. I don't know the specifics but it's a good place to start.

Re: Oil Pressure gauge, possible problem?

I have a similar situation, I have about ~60-70psi when I startup and after it is warmed up and during constant running (anything over 15mph) its about 40-50psi.

At one point it had gotten so bad that during idle it would drop to 15psi and the check engine light would come on, so I had to keep my foot on the gass. So I ran a engine flush (amsoil), and it got better 40~50 psi. I am wondering if its the pump, but i don't have the time to check it out, nor can't to take it to a shop (since its my only vehicle).
