Brakesalphalanos 07-13-2003, 12:03 PM does anyone else seem to have reoccuring brake issues with this car? as soon as i have them serviced and they seem fine, soon after they start squeaking or scoring. it has new rear rotors on it but its the fronts that are sqealing a little when i come to a stop. it happens in both wet and dry weather and i am not hard on the brakes, however i found that pressing more firmly then usual makes the squealing stop. i checked the front rotors and they arent scored right now. bmxnbrothaman 01-02-2004, 03:02 AM yes, my dad has that exact problem. That's why I'm here, I'm trying to find a solution. My idea is to just do the entire system with aftermarket parts, but I'm having a little trouble. He has a '99 chrysler Sebring JX convertable, and I'm trying to find aftermarket rotors, pads, and calipers. So far, I've found the front rotors and front and rear pads, so I still need to find the calipers and rear rotors. In order to not highjack this dude's thread, if you can help me, please hit me up by PM or e-mail (bmxnbrotha@aol.com)and help me find some slotted rear rotors, (preferabbly powerstop to match the front,) and calipers (anything better than O.E.M.)thanks y'all, peace bmxnbrothaman 01-04-2004, 01:30 AM are the rears drum or what? NCSUSebringjx 01-13-2004, 10:46 PM I had the exact same problem. I figured that it had to be the rotors because I tried all different kinds of pads and nothing worked. I went to go have the rotors turned, but the guy at the shop said that they were too thin already. So I just bought some new ones and the problem stopped. Also, go to your local autozone and get the anti-squek packets they sell, they really work. If you're looking for a company that sells both front and rear slotted rotors, KVR Performance makes them. Now I just need to find out if dad's car is disk or drum in the rear, and find some calipers. do you know of any aftermarket calipers for the '99 sebring JX? anything better than OEM quality? Dehner Motorsports 01-22-2004, 12:13 AM When you change the brake pads, do you notice the inner pads being worn thinner than the outer pads? If so, its a simple matter of the caliper piston hanging up, causing excessive wear. bmxnbrothaman 02-03-2004, 11:07 PM dunno, it's dad's car, I've never messed with it. But he did say something about the calipers getting hung up, so I wouldn't doubt if that were the case. Does anyone know where to get some better-than-OEM calipers? Oldengineer 02-06-2004, 11:48 PM I've had problems with the rear disc brake shoes on my 2001 Sebring 4 door. The brakes don't squeak when applied, they rattle loudly when not being applied. The dealer attempted to fix twice under warranty. Turns out that the antirattle spring on the inboard OEM shoes fails and the shoe rattles in the caliper assembly. Sounds like you're dragging a piece of chain at low speeds. I found some house brand rear shoes at Autozone that had a much heavier antirattle spring and that cured the problem. Regardsing the fronts - on the last three Chryslers I had - found that Bendix linings and rotors do a good job. Have had no problems with the calipers themselves.
