wheel type on mk3 golf?

The 98 Golf GL I just bought came with pretty new, mismached no-name tires .. hopefully they'll last me the Winter in snowy arizona. come next summer, i'll probably look to get some alloy wheels and new tires, 15" or 16" .. anyhow, was wondering which type I have to look for - 4 or 5 lug wheels - for my golf; I just have OEM wheel covers so I can't see what I need.

Anyone know which is correct?

Thanks

p.s. how you think some thick-spoked gunmetal/black rims would look on a lowered drk green golf

You need wheels with a 4x100 bolt pattern, and 35mm offset.

By all means, do. But I wouldn't bother.
ex42_25 is compulsive liar, don't trust him.
