Renault Espace, noisy brakes

When I partially release my brakes to creep forward or backwards they can sound like a fog horn! My Renault dealer is unwilling or unable to fix the problem. The car is a Renault Espace 2.0 Auto regestered 2002.
I suspect the brake pads are juddering across the discs rather than sliding.
Does anyone have a fix?

Could you give more information about car? Is there ABS system? Are rear brakes disc or drum type?
For now it looks like brake pads. You can try(if there's enough thickness) remove and reinstall with application of a special fluid silicon- caulk-like on the back side of the pads. Make sure all springs and mounts are in good shape.
There's basically two types of brake for the front end. I personally had Bendix - one cylinder floating caliper on vented discs for the front setup.
It didn't give me any headaches.
It shouldn't be hard to fix.
But could be CV joints noise when you apply brakes. I had that problem, but it wasn't consistently making noise like you described.
Buy original Bedix stuff.

On a 2002 Espace of course, there is the ABS and 4 discs.
But since the asbestos is forbidden in the brakes, this noises are becoming frequent. I know people with a 2001 C5 Hdi with the same problem, same thing on a 2003 A6 V6 TDi.

Don't know very much about new Espace. I had Espace Quadra 1993. All I know is the design has changed significantly and I don't like some of the changes. The simpler the better.
Try that anti-squeak compound to apply on the back side of brake pads.
It should be available at any automotive supply store.
What does your dealer say about the nature of the noise? What are his reasons to reject your claim to fix it?

Yes, dear Stefanel. You know the subject pretty good.;-) Russian roads need more 4x4's. And it was one of the best cars I ever had. Engine could be better, but 200km/hour top speed on a straight empty highway wasn't bad. I installed new shocks on it too - adjustable Koni and made some improvements on air conditioning, brakes, and cooling system.

This Espace II was nice. Especially the Quadra. I know some people working in Russia.... on has a Subaru Impreza WRX and another an X5... ;)
What car do you have now in Canada ? Only the Horizon ? Where are you from ? What job do you do ? Still working by Renault?

Yes, I loved that car, especially when I went apart with it because I moved to Canada. I had to sell it for just 7500Us$.
Now I'm jobless temporarily. Here in Canada you need certification to be a mechanic or whatever you want to. And it takes years to obtain a ticket. For now I just stick to my Horizon, it was cheap , just right for the guy like me. I put CDplayer in it, did some improvements on electrical part. Really don't want to invest very much into that car. All it does is moving my ass around, cause transit transportation sucks here... I had a few jobs here involved in mechanical and maintenance. I do electronic repairs, mechanics, can virtually fix anything that brakes down;-)... Play with computers too.

Did I answer your questions?
What about you?

:dogpile:

Hey Stefanel.
I have my reasons to stay here. If you haven't lived in Russia you won't exactly understand me. It looks like we started off topic thread. Canada is great country for resources and opportunities including cars
Too long story to tell you. If you have any personal questions feel free to e-mail 'em and I'll try to clarify for you.

I think your dealer was absolutely right. That is very common issue for modern brake pads, and it's generally not a malfunction. You'd better cope with it or, if you really want some experiment - try different pads. You may find yourself soon overdraft spending too much for that shit...
Try to ask retailers to find some brake pads for you that are known for quiet operation, make sure they aren't hard on your brake discs.
Good luck with it.
