Altima v MaximaJBL85 11-17-2001, 04:13 AM Whats the different in speeds, I see 0-60 in 5.9-6.3 for the 5 speed altima, what kind of speeds is the 255 HP heavier maxima pulling 2001 AE 11-24-2001, 09:30 PM Originally posted by JBL85 Whats the different in speeds, I see 0-60 in 5.9-6.3 for the 5 speed altima, what kind of speeds is the 255 HP heavier maxima pulling With the additional 15hp the Max is just as fast if not faster according to most publications. JBL85 11-24-2001, 09:35 PM its also geared with a 6 speed which helps I imagine Altimat 11-28-2001, 02:34 AM The new V-8 4WD Maxima will change all that soon enough... MaxRX7 12-12-2001, 11:22 AM you talking about the V6 ?? JBL85 12-13-2001, 01:17 AM hehe...skyline R35 I think max7 12-19-2001, 10:26 AM Originally posted by MaxRX7 you talking about the V6 ?? No the new maxima will be built on the q45 platform and it will have a v-8. JBL85 12-19-2001, 11:09 AM that would be sweet but to expensive Altimat 12-19-2001, 11:10 AM No it will be built in Tenn. on the Altima platform. I've heard speculation that the new IRS will accomodate 4WD. JBL85 12-19-2001, 04:20 PM what is IRS? Altimat 12-19-2001, 11:02 PM Independent Rear Suspension BleachZee 02-20-2002, 03:15 PM So, basically what Nissan is doing is giving all the engine options and style to the Altima so that eventually they just won't make the Maxima anymore because the Altima is available with a 4-cyl, V6, or V8. Its already as big as the Maxima... Since the 350Z will be out next year, they need to get rid of a model to make room for another model. too much overhead means low profits. joeB 02-25-2002, 03:17 AM Where did you hear that the Altima has a V-8? They are not going to stop makingg the Maxima, not for a long time. Holyterror 03-15-2002, 03:55 AM It looks to me like the Altima is taking over the territory that the Maxima used to occupy, while Nissan is contemplating making a Max that truly fulfills its claims of being a "4 Door Sports Car." Right now, the Altima has about an inch more in every dimension, 2/10 of a second in 0-60, and 1/10 in 1/4 mile times. However, the Maxima comes with a more tuned motor and a six speed, so it should be capable of more (especially since it costs more). In future, I suspect that our Maxima will mirror one of the future Skyline models in Japan. We already have the G35, with the R35 GT-R on the way (we think). If we're going to get the in-between models (GTS, GT-T, whatever they end up calling them), then it seems plenty logical to use the 4 Door Sports Car's moniker. For now, the Altima and Maxima are simply two cars that are too alike for their own good. 2002 Altima SE | 2002 Maxima SE $22.3 $25.4 240 hp@5800 255hp@5800 246 ft/lbs@4400 246 ft/lbs4400 5 Speed 6 Speed Open Differential Helical Limited Slip 0-60 in 6.7 0-60 in 6.9 1/4 Mile in 14.9 1/4 Mile in 15 flat JBL85 03-16-2002, 03:05 AM i think those 1/4 times are wrong its something like 14.3 for the new maxima.....I heard some guy bragging about that time he pulled of stock. I am sure it was very aggressive driving =) Altimat 03-16-2002, 05:41 PM An Altima 3.5 5-Speed ran a 13.92. I'll be trying to beat that here in a few weeks... JBL85 03-17-2002, 03:35 AM WAS THAT STOCK???????????????? Holyterror 03-17-2002, 04:02 AM I'm pretty sure it can't do that stock. Now, with better breathing and possibly a new ECU (the simple formula to shave a second off your Nissan's 1/4 mile ET), I'll believe that. Stillen is supposed to have parts out for the new Altima already. I wouldn't be surprised if everybody who's started tuning the VQ35DE has hit 13s. And you could probably lose some of the superfluous Altima stuff, like the back seats maybe? joeB 03-17-2002, 02:02 PM It might be able to do 13.9 stock with a five speed.:) JBL85 03-18-2002, 02:25 AM Nah, doesnt need a ECU to do a slow 13.9....intake maybe TatII 03-20-2002, 10:24 AM 13.9 slow? anything in the 13's you have to wear a helment if your at the track. TatII 03-20-2002, 10:28 AM or was it 12? either way 13.9 seconds is damn fast for a "stock" car. BleachZee 03-20-2002, 05:00 PM At Seattle International Raceway the rule is helmets for cars that run 12.9 or faster, not in the 13's. Yes, either way that is fast for a 4-door family car. They carry a lot of weight. I can't wait to see what the 350Z does with that engine using the rear wheels. JBL85 03-22-2002, 01:31 AM YESSSSSSSS saturday I am running at the track with my POS 4 banga, wish me luck :D Nissan Sales 310 04-08-2003, 05:10 PM I have driven both altima v6 and maxima and i think that the maxima is faster. Maximadave 04-29-2003, 02:46 PM The Maxima is a tad faster but most of the time it is based on the driver joeB 06-12-2003, 08:50 PM Nope, the Altima is faster.:D JBL85 06-13-2003, 02:25 AM Haha, Altimat posted that 13.9, like a year ago, he is a moderator on Altimas.net now and I didnt even pick up on that :p vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
