fuel smell in carblacksky33 11-16-2001, 05:52 PM can anyone give me any idea's why i can smell fuel in my car but only on a hot day i have allso noticed the smell in the boot aswell:bloated: SlowGts-t 11-16-2001, 07:42 PM I've got an R32 but Im guessing they are similar. In the boot, there is a metal cover on the right hand side, underneath it is another plate and underneath that is the fuel pump There is probably a leak in the lower plate. Thats where mine came from. ER.. u sure that its petrol and not exhaust fumes? (just checking) blacksky33 11-16-2001, 11:05 PM no definatley fuel do you think i will be able to tell by looking at it or will it need to be pressure tested or something:confused: meggala 11-17-2001, 04:18 AM the one I had was the breather from the fuel filler was cracked in mine you will need to remove the shrould in the wheel arch to see that. meggala SlowGts-t 11-17-2001, 06:27 AM Pressure test? . no no. Its just a metal cover on top of the fuel tank.Fuel leaks out when its sloshing around in the tank. Just needs some sealant to seal it GTS-4 Ben 11-17-2001, 06:45 AM tell me, does anyone know if it actually matters if it leaks around the fuel pump seal? I replaced my fuel pump and the seal streached so In cut it and put it back in. When I remove my fuel cap it dosn't make the "hiss" noise... but the car runs sweet and gas is normal for the car..
