street race Vs Lexus IS300...
i was driving a while back and an IS300 decided he wanted to play..
i say 'ok'. and at the next lite we went.
anyway, off the start he had me a little but once my turbo kicked in it was over. i caught up and overtook him by at least 1 1/2 car lenght.. by this time i knew any attempt on his part was useless so i shut down
win for me..
i would love to throw a supercharger on my car, eliminate the lag, and kill almost every car.
BTW ive got a stock 2001 Volvo S60 T5 geartronic... runs 247 hp and a little less torque... good machine, although could handle a little better. ill need to look into that

There are better approaches to increasing your off-the-line torque. Ever think of a twin turbo set-up?
By the way, welcome to AF

I am not a huge fan of it, but you could add a small nitrous shot. Inject it directly into the turbo to aid in spool up time. Ya' know nothing big a small 30 40 even 50 shot spool up kit. just throwing it out there!

yea
i have definetly give a small nos system serious thought...
i am in southern cali, so it would be interesting to see what a good race shop could do for me.
its hard having a volvo because most tuning shops are in europe.....and there is a big market so far with my model out there. i will post some nice body kits.
about the twin turbo, i have no idea where to start with that.
even if i did, i would have no money because im currently shopping for a new SVT Lightning. :sun:

Then I would recommend that you don't race any, because you never know what a car/driver is capable of just from appearances.
And I'd hate to see you have to get all messy...

Another cool option would be to get your hands on a turbo system incorporating some of the technology that VW/Audi turbo systems use:

VGT/VNT stans for "Variable Geometry turbo/Variable nozzle turbo." Basically, by adjusting either the pict of the vanes (VGT) on the compresor or the exhuast gas inlet (VNT) on the turbine, you can create a turbo that spolls up MUCH faster and produces more airflow over a wider range than a comparable non-variable turbo setup. Couple those effects with the lastest watercooled ceramic ball bearings and you have yourself a turbo that spools almost instantly, but doesn't conk out up top.
Guess what I want to get? heh heh
Also, the reason why it's very easy to net more HP just from chipping the ECU's on the new VW's and Audios is because the VGT or VNT features are now electronically controlled, and integrated into the ECU's. Euro spec ECU's are a big thing now. The only difference is in how the turbo is controlled. Darnit, I hope that I can get some stand alone control. heh I would rather use that than the older, vaccuum based system used in some Shelby cars.

This would be another option for increasing your baseline torque. If it was doable, I think this would be the best suggestion yet!! Also, I know Garrett is experimenting with turbo that include a small motor, that has the sole function of spooling the turbo at low rpm to eliminate lag (and, even more impressive, is the fact that this motor, like the turbo itself, is powered by exhaust gases!).
It kinda bums me out when comparing Hondas and VW's in turbocharged applications. It's so easy for the VW owners, like it's already been incorporated into the design parameters from day one. Honda owners have to work a lot harder to get it all to work smoothly. Damn VW's :finger: Just kidding.. a little frustrated by the difficulty of Honda turbo prospects in relation to those of VW's, that's all
