Question need tech advise on lack of oil to mains

I have just recently rebuilt a 1975 350 engine. It made it about three hundred miles and developed a knocing noise when I pulled the oil pan I found that all my rods bearings where starved for oil and so where the mains. My question is how does the oil flow through the motor to lubricate thoses bearings? I was told it flows through the rear main down the crank but that isnt posiable It looks like it goes through the rear main up to the cam and down the oil galies in the top of the engine then down the cam mains to the crank mains? Is this the way it flows and if it is would the internal oil pug in the main oil galie in the back of the block that goes to the sending unit was not installed could this have caused my problem? I would like to find a oil flow diagram on the 350 engine so I could better understand what went on if anyone know what could have cuased my problem I would really appreciate the input.
