AMT 66` Buick Rivera

If anybody out there has the AMT 66` Buick Rivera Kit, i have a question . . . My hood does not have hinges to go into the model to open and close the hood. you just put the hood on top of the engine and if you want to open it you pull it off? is it suppose to be this way or just mine? sorry if i misexplained..
