To US Skyline owners
Just wondering how folks with Skylines in the US have fared with their vehicles. Any drawbacks? How about reliability? Or is it a toy car only?

Well, I guess you would call it a toy car - It is being built for drag racing, and we have had some problems so far.
The car was in excellent condition when I imported it from Japan, but upon testing, we spun a bearing. Tore the motor apart, to diagnose the problem, and there were inconsistencies, it appears the car was worked on and ridden hard in Japan, then converted back to stock to sell it.
Oh well, that is the risk.....but dayamm, I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, Skylines are built for track race, NOT INTENDED FOR DRAG RACE IN THE FIRST PLACE. As for the fact that it is good for drag race as well, it's a blessing in disguise...
Secondly, I don't think there is ever a Skyline, GT-R especially, is stock standard leaving Japan. They buy this car to be modified and spend a lot of time driving it hard. If someone trying to sell you a 'stock standard, never been modified' Skyline, you should think extra long and extra hard before purchasing it... Get someone who knows about this to check on the car, because it is extremely, highly unusual... Trust me on this, I've spent hours studying this kinda thing before purchasing my ride...

Hell, you can make any car a Drag car, but I will agree with you Yar that the skyline is better suited for track/road.
Oh, telling Shooter Boy that, is like throwing salt in the wound.
Good Luck Shooter.

GTR poor drag car? Yeah right! Don't let HKS hear that, they might have to bring over their 1200+HP, 6 sec. drag BNRC33...

Where can I find these mythical times of 5 sec 1/4 by Skyline? By my calculations you need aprox 2400hp to hit 5.99 and 1800hp to hit 6.99. Please enlighten me

Oil filter: 300ZX
Brake pads: 300ZX
Some of the stuff you can get here, some you can't. A call to Japan or Australia and they'll ship it for you. Better to have a beater on the side, a high powered GT-R isn't very practical as a daily driver.

The video you saw was probably a shorter distance. Alot of the tracks they run on are shorter than 400m. I saw the car run at sendai on one of the few nhra approved tracks. It ran a 7.98
