wiring an Alpine MRV-F400 amp

Hi,

I was wondering if some of you audio pros can help me out...

I have an Alpine MRV-F400 amplifier (40x4 @4ohm), and I want to wire the amp to drive (2) 12inch dual 4ohm voice coil subs( rated 300W). Can some of you suggest a good way to wire this up to get the most out of both the amp and subs. I would appreciate any help greatly.

Thanks

Are the subs 300 RMS, or 300 watts max? Also, what # of channels is the amp capable of? Some 4 channels can go down to one, while others can only go down to 2.

The subs are Sounstream SPL12s rated @ 300W rms, and the amp is bridgeable down to one channel.

Thanks for the help.

I'm sorry, one last question. What's the lowest ohms the amp is capable of handling?

I'm pretty sure the amp can handle being bridged down to one ohm. I really appreciate the help.

Thanks

Okay, just making sure. Wire the speakers to a 2-ohm load each, and bridge the amp to one-channel. This should give you 640 x 1 @ 1-ohm, which will push 320 to each speaker. Lower your gain to half way when you first start going. If the subs are brand new, use them for a bit first, break them in. If they aren't then you can go ahead and adjust the gain from there to give you the best sound to your liking. If you don't know how to do the wiring then you can PM me if you wish. Good luck.
