Unhappy Problems with Alternators on the 2001 Malibu?

I was wondering if anyone heard of any recalls or issues regarding the alternators on 2001 mailibus with the 3.0 liter V6. Mine just seemed to have conked after 35K, 100 miles, and the previous thread seemed to have the same issue.

Anyone know of a known issue / needed repair on theese?? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

GM Alternators

My family owns a 1998 2.4L Malibu, a 1997 Cavalier, a 1993 Saturn SL1, and a 1998 Saturn SL1. I have had alternator problems on the Malibu (2 times in 52K), the Cavalier (2 Times in 70K), and the 93 SL1 (3 times in 130K). Based on my experence, GM alternators fail as early as 26K miles and are a weakness in their design. I just changed one on the Malibu 2 weeks ago - not a hard job after you figure it out. I just didn't want to pay the dealer $400 for a 90 day warranteed unit when I could get a lifetime guaranteed unit for $100 after core return at my local auto parts store. If I get 25K miles out of i before replace, i's it's a breaeven with Chevy.t

Untrue!
Most GM parts (alternators, starters, fuelpumps and others) have a lifetime warranty if PURCHASED and INSTALLED at a GM dealer.(This is a nationwide warranty, so if X dealer in your hometown replaces a warranty part and you travel elsewhere and the part fails...Y dealer in that area will replace it for no charge provided you show a reciept from the first dealer)
Plus if your GM vehicle is less than 3yrs old and less than 36000 miles, it is covered by a 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty. So the alternator would be replaces at no charge to you.
Over the counter parts have a 90 day warranty.
