no turbo/ turbostratboy 07-01-2003, 10:52 AM I am currently working on a project car, and i want to do an engine swap from a non turbo supra to the 2jzgtte v-spec, i was wondering if any of you knew of any difficulties that i may encounter, and if the engine is the only defference between the two cars, and also i am looking for a 93-98 supra body, so if you are or know anybody who has a supra with a shot engine let me know, thanks YogsVR4 07-01-2003, 02:18 PM I think your going to have issues with the transmission with an engine swap like that. RScott 07-01-2003, 08:33 PM yes...its 2jz-gte for the TT and 2jz-ge for NA stratboy 07-01-2003, 11:58 PM sory for the confsion, i only meant to put one t in 2jz gte i was out of it, and i meant to put j-spec now v-spec, and the 6 speed tranny is included in the engine package, and my mechanic will be able to adapt it, if the tranny is the only minor issure then i should be good right? RScott 07-02-2003, 12:44 AM i think you might need to swap the diff...your gearing will be weird swapping the diff means one new axle...i forget which... so on after the tranny youll need driveshaft diff axle the tranny tunnel needs to be modified too...the 6 speed wont fit unless part of the hump is cut and raised good luck with the project Turbo Thoughts 07-03-2003, 12:01 AM a project like that sounds like fuuunnnn.... you're not doing it yourself?? i don't know supras, but i know cars, and i know that other than the clutchbell, manual transmissions are smaller (or more correctly worded, compact) than automatics.the only cutting i'd imagine is for the shifter to come through. also the clutch pedal and cylinder and all that would have to be installed under the hood and the brake pedal and mabey even the brakes would have to be moved or modified. otherwise i give you "mad props" for coming to the realization of a manual transmissions superiority and the crazy initiative of doing this whole thing. good luck in the future... and have FUN with it. RScott 07-03-2003, 04:31 AM neh it has to be modified...it has been done numerous times...generally it is smaller...but there are 6 gears in this tranny...read up on it some more and youll find you have to modify underneath where the center console is and a little forward...but not so far as the shifter...parts can be ordered from toyota youll have lots of fun when you finish the car off Turbo Thoughts 07-07-2003, 02:00 AM Cool. Turbo Thoughts 07-07-2003, 02:09 AM i know someone with a burgundy one up in NJ... he trashed the turbo/intercooler in a minor accident, but otherwise i'd buy the car.. he just rebuilt the engine... he might sell it.. it has some NICE sideskirts and stuff... as well as some crazy wheels.. like 12 in/ wides in the rear. its a turbo and manual.
